Tree-Nation's First Direct Restoration Pilot Takes Root in Coastal Kenya

Along Kenya's coastline, mangroves have quietly done the work of a seawall, a nursery, and a climate buffer all at once. Decades of logging and coastal development have worn that protection thin, and Tree-Nation is stepping in with a new kind of project: for the first time in our portfolio, our team is leading the restoration work directly on the ground.

The Kenya Mangroves Restoration, developed with the Kenya Forest Service and coastal communities, is starting with a pilot at Marereni, targeting 450,000 trees. Sixty people from communities living alongside this coastline are already at the center of it, trained and paid to grow, plant, and protect the forest that will protect them back.
